Beat the Hibernate Instinct

Billerica winters are no joke. When the snow piles up, it’s easy to let your goals slide. Here are 5 ways to keep the fire burning without leaving your house.

1. The Stair Climb Sprint

One of the best cardio tools is in your own home. Walking or running up and down stairs elevates the heart rate instantly.

Recommended: 10 minutes total. 1 minute on (brisk climb), 30 seconds rest.

2. Kitchen Counter Incline Pushups

Use your countertop as an incline. This targets the lower chest and is a great high-volume burner.

Recommended: 4 sets of 15-20 reps.

3. High-Knee Sprints (Static)

Stay in one spot and drive your knees toward your chest as fast as you can. Use your arms for momentum.

Recommended: 5 sets of 30 seconds "on" followed by 30 seconds rest.

4. Bodyweight Air Squats

The largest muscles in your body burn the most fuel. Keep your heels down and chest up.

Recommended: 3 sets of 25 reps per day.

5. The "Commercial Break" Plank

Turn off the mindless scrolling or TV binging. Every time a break comes on, hold a plank.

Recommended: Hold for 45-60 seconds, 3 times per day.
